Learn a routine designed to tease and tantalize the audience of your choice, while developing more confidence and a new sense of gracefullness.
Techniques covered will include "Dancing in Shoes you shouldn't be walking in," Elegant and Seductive glove and stocking removal, Tantalizing boa work, The Classic Bump and Grind, and Effortless bra removal.
Class attire: Workout/loose clothes with bare legs and a removable bra, gloves, stockings and high heels. (some shoes are available at studio) (Stagelight Studios has a wide selection of gloves, stockings and Lingerie.)
Workshop dates: Saturday December 4th, 2pm (cutoff date December 1)
Saturday December 11th, 2pm (cutoff date December 8)
Class Fee: $75 paid in advance
Instructor: Scarlett Letter has been tantalizing audiences since 2004. An accomplished performer, costumer and producer, she can be found performing all over Southern California, and at many Burlesque festivals throughout the country. She is currently producing/co-producing 3 monthly shows in Los Angeles.

This workshop will be held Saturdays from 3-7 pm for 5 weeks starting September 11, 2010.
Sign-ups must be in by September 8, 2010. Class is limited to a total of 3 sign-ups. Waitlist will be available.
COURSE OUTLINE
Week 1 - Sept 11th
Dress: Workout/loose clothes, the shoes* you intend to perform in...
Needed: 1 yd of fringe, dangle bead or tassel trim for belt shimmies
Lecture: Intro to class, schedule, history of burlesque
Content of a number, Classic vs. Neo & Post -Neo Burlesque character, names & music choices
Choosing & researching Stage names
Movement: Posture, entrances, exits & walks
Bumps, grinds, shimmies & shakes
Homework: Practice posture, entrances, exits & walks...bumps, grinds, shimmies & shakes
Come up with 3 songs for a routine & consider style of costume you might want
Also - come up with the "name" that you will use to perform
Week 2 - Sept 18th
Dress: Workout/loose clothes, the shoes* you intend to perform in...
Gloves & boa, scarf or large piece of fabric
Shimmy belt
Needed: Gloves & boa, scarf or large piece of fabric, thigh high stockings
Lecture: Costumes, the reveal and the magic of removal, props
Pasties, stockings, shoes, accessories & tricks of the trade
Movement: Boas & gloves, fans and other props
Chairs and floorwork
Homework: Write out a draft of your routine, start gathering the items you need for your costume
Week 3 - Sep 25th OFF/No Class
Week 4 - Oct 2nd
Dress: Workout/loose clothes, performance outfit if available, performance shoes,
props and any other related items for your final perfomance
Needed: Performance outfit if available, performance shoes, props and any other related items for your final performance
Lecture: Eye contact, audience participation, hair and make-up
Movement: "Dancing in shoes you shouldn't be walking in"
Review: Group discussion, routine troubleshooting, graduation preparation and students choices
Homework: Final costume decision, finalize routine & music
Week 5 - Oct 9th
Dress: Workout/loose clothes
Needed: Your costume & accessories..music chosen for routine & routine
Lecture/Movement: Dry run of each student performance, crafting the costume into completion
Homework: Finish costume
Week 6 - Date to be determined
Graduation Performance (Optional)
Date & Location for perfomance will be announced at the end of the workshop.
General Dress: Workout/loose clothes, comfortable heels or character shoes. *6" heels are available for your use if you prefer.
General Items to Bring: Notebook & Pen, Water
Dates & times subject to change without notice. In the event workshop is cancelled - you will be refunded.
